No cube?

I'd love to share a heartfelt story with you today. I bet you can’t imagine that The Cube almost didn’t exist. For nine months, it was hidden away behind my garbage cans. Despite all the time and effort I poured into it, I felt stuck, as if I was making no progress. Giving up always seems easier than persevering, doesn't it? Yet, something deep inside me urged me to hold onto it. Fortuitously, it was too large to fit in the garbage, making it harder to discard.

One morning, as I sat in my apartment, I received a call that would change everything. My sister was on the line, informing me that our dad had just suffered a stroke. The news was devastating, leaving me flooded with worries and questions about his condition and what would come next.

In search of some comfort, I revisited a motivational talk I'd listened to that morning. A pastor's words struck me profoundly: "If you are sitting here wasting an opportunity while someone is in the hospital begging God for their life, you better stand up."

Motivated by these words, I went outside, retrieved The Cube from near the garbage cans, and began cleaning its components. I placed The Cube back in my office, a decision that has since shaped my life's path. Reflecting on this journey, I often ponder the life I might have led and the person I could have become had I given up. The road hasn't always been smooth; there have been numerous challenges and moments when quitting seemed like the simpler option. Yet, I continued to witness the transformative power of play, not just for those I was assisting, but for myself as well.

I discovered music festivals where adults from diverse backgrounds come together to embrace the spirit of play. We dress in quirky outfits, enjoy music, and forge friendships in this collective playground. So, when life becomes overwhelmingly difficult, and the path forward seems unclear, take a moment to engage in something light-hearted and silly. It might just lift the fog of uncertainty. Sometimes, getting lost in a simple, joyful activity can remind you to focus on the present and inspire you to create fun out of the ordinary.
